When tax is included, both amounts are divided by the same assumed tax factor before commission is calculated. The adjustment is mathematical. Keep the original sale reference and review the agreed treatment before applying a later-period refund.

The working

Refund adjustment = −rounded(refund basis × rate ÷ 100). Remaining commission = original commission + adjustment.

A $220.00 sale and $110.00 refund, each including assumed 10% tax, produce bases of $200.00 and $100.00. At 40%, the adjustment is −$40.00.
