Start with the sale, then follow the refund
A refund is a negative sale in Trimsum. If the original service attracted commission, the refund can reduce the commission calculated for the selected period. Keep the original invoice reference so the adjustment remains traceable.
An example you can check
A $110 service refund includes $10 tax. With commission calculated on sales excluding tax, the basis is −$100. A 40% service rate gives −$40 commission. On a tax-inclusive basis, the same rate gives −$44. Trimsum shows the basis and rate beside the source line.
Check the agreement before approving
Trimsum flags refund rows for a person to review. Check who delivered the service, which period the refund belongs to, and how your agreed commission arrangement treats it. An exclusion needs a reason; approval also keeps the reason with the line.
Keep the explanation with the amount
A finalised run records the source rows, rates, calculation settings and review notes at the time it was closed. If someone asks about a smaller total later, you can return to the actual line and decision.
Try it with sample data
The public demo includes a refund that changes the draft commission. Open it, read the original source row, enter a review reason and compare the resulting team statement. No account is needed for the demo.
