Original source names stay visible. Matching ignores letter case and repeated whitespace, but it does not guess that similar names are one person. Aliases with unknown targets or conflicting identities are rejected.
The working
Try case/space-normalised team names first, then an explicitly supplied alias; otherwise report unmatched.
“ MIA CHEN ” matches Mia Chen after normalisation. “M. Chen” matches only when its explicit alias is supplied.
- Case and repeated whitespace are ignored. No fuzzy match or identity inference is applied.
- An alias is treated as your explicit assertion that two source names identify the same person.
