Both methods use nearest-cent rounding with exact half cents rounded away from zero. The result lists every rounded line. This explains why two systems using the same basis and rate can differ; it does not silently switch the workspace rounding policy.

The working

Line method = sum of each rounded commission. Total method = round(sum of bases × rate).

Three $0.05 lines at 10% each round to $0.01, totalling $0.03. Their $0.15 total at 10% rounds to $0.02.

  • AUD. Monetary results use nearest-cent rounding; exact half cents round away from zero.
  • 3 lines at 10%. The unrounded amounts are shown to six decimal places, calculated exactly from cents and basis points.
