Create an account and a place for each salon
Set up a local Trimsum account, save its recovery code and create separate empty workspaces for the salons or clients you manage.
Your account is the login for this local Trimsum installation. A workspace holds one business’s draft sales, agreements and completed runs. You can keep several workspaces under the same account, while the interactive demo remains separate. Start with a clear business name and a saved recovery code before bringing in any real sales.
The useful part
Save the recovery code at signup, then use one clearly named workspace per business. New workspaces contain no sample sales or staff rules.
Open the installation you intend to use
The local Trimsum server must be running for account access and saved workspace actions. Accounts belong to its database, rather than to every copy of the website on every computer. The project folder contains that database; a folder placed in iCloud Drive may sync through your iCloud settings. This does not create a shared online Trimsum workspace. Use the demo first if you only want to practise the review without entering real business records.
Create the first account
The email address identifies your login. This edition does not send a verification message or password-reset email. Keep the exact address you entered with your account records, because recovery uses it together with the saved code.
- Choose Create a workspace from the login page, or open the signup page.
- Enter the initial Workspace name and your Email address.
- Choose a password of at least 12 characters and select Create workspace.
- Wait for the recovery-code screen before continuing.
Keep your way back in
On Keep your way back in, use Save recovery code to download a text copy, or securely record the displayed code yourself. Confirm I’ve saved my recovery code, then choose Open my workspace. The code is displayed at this point only and can reset the account password. Keep it private and separate from files you routinely hand to clients or bookkeepers. A later recovery issues a replacement code, so an older copy should not be assumed valid.
Add another business from Workspaces
Your workspaces is the account’s portfolio. Choose New workspace, enter Workspace name and select Create workspace. The new business opens on its Overview with its own empty draft and settings. For example, “Harbour salon” and “City studio” can each have a Mia staff rule without sharing sales or percentages. Search by workspace name and use the status filter when the list grows. Open the business name to return to its overview.
| Workspace | Mia service rate | Draft sales |
|---|---|---|
| Harbour salon | 40% | Its own imported rows |
| City studio | 45% | A separate imported file |
Prepare the first real run
From Overview, choose Add your team or Open review desk. You can enter agreed rates first or import sales to discover the staff names requiring rules. New workspaces start with one flat service and retail rate per earning name; Agreements also offers an explicit upgrade to a dated staff directory when rates change over time. Select the date range for the intended period, then import an itemised CSV. A newly created account does not inherit the demo’s rates, source lines or completed sample runs; check your own inputs before interpreting a draft total.
Rename or archive without losing the record
Open Settings & backups to change Workspace name and choose Save workspace name. When a business no longer needs active work, choose Archive workspace and then Confirm archive. Its records remain readable and exportable, while further draft changes require Unarchive workspace. Return to Workspaces and select Archived or All workspaces to find it again. Archiving is not deletion, a backup or an invitation for somebody else to access the business.
Put it to work.
Start with an empty draft, your own business name and a private recovery code.
